Kate Richardson-Walsh led the GB and England women's hockey teams for 13 years as their captain. Her inspirational and charismatic leadership helped build a strong team ethos and commitment that drove the GB team to a heart-stopping victory in the Rio Olympic Games. In addition to winning gold, Kate made history by being one-half of the first same-sex married couple to win an Olympic medal while playing in the same team.

After a disappointing 11th-place finish at the World Cup in 2014, the team began a process of self-examination and rebuilding. They established their collective culture of behaviour, created a sense of common purpose, and set up a distributed leadership structure to ensure it remained a daily practice.

Through her experiences, Kate showcases how to build team ethos and resilience while applying the leadership, team, and performance lessons learned from her elite sports career.
Kate is the most capped female player in the country’s history, making 375 appearances.
